Praying the Scriptures
Sunday Evening Prayer
July 27, 2025
I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. (John 10:16)
Lord Jesus,
The sun has slipped behind Red Mountain, leaving its silhouette etched in quiet majesty against the deepening sky. A warm hush lingers over the high desert—still, reverent, as if the earth itself is pausing to breathe. The creosote bushes stand motionless, and the last warmth of the day rises gently from the ground.
Above me, the first stars begin to twinkle—faint at first, then sure and steady—like whispers of eternity stitched across the heavens. In this holy hush, I feel Your nearness. I hear again the echo of Your promise: “They will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.”
Thank You, Shepherd of my soul, for calling my name—for drawing me from the shadows into the fold. I am humbled to be known by You, led by You, and kept in the safety of Your grace. Beneath this wide, star-lit sky, I remember those who have yet to hear Your voice, those who wander still. Draw them close, Lord. Let the night carry Your call to hearts that long for home.
Make me gentle and watchful, like You—open to the stranger, patient with the lost, ready to bear witness to Your love.
Tonight, I rest in Your keeping. As darkness deepens and the stars multiply, I find peace in Your promise—one flock, one shepherd. And I am not alone.
Amen.
May the Shepherd’s voice guide you through the night, and His peace keep you until the morning light.
