Praying the Scriptures
Sunday Morning Prayer
July 27, 2025
I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. (John 10:16)
Lord Jesus,
The sun rises slow and golden over the ridge of the Florida Mountains, brushing the desert floor with its first warm light. Creosote bushes stand still in the hush of morning, their shadows stretching long across the sand and stone. The breeze hasn’t yet stirred, and everything feels held—quiet, waiting, sacred. In this stillness, I listen.
You said, “I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must bring them also.” And I hear the yearning in those words—the longing of the Good Shepherd who never stops seeking. You found me, Lord, when I wandered far. You called my name in the quiet of my own wilderness, and I heard You. I recognize Your voice now, even in the morning silence.
Thank You for drawing me into Your fold—not by merit, but by mercy. Thank You for calling me one of Your own. Yet even as I rest in the safety of Your care, I know there are others still wandering, still searching, still unheard. Some have never known Your name. Others have been driven out by false shepherds or wounded by the world.
Today, Lord, I lift them up to You—every lost soul, every quiet heart listening for something real. Call to them. Speak gently into their hidden places. And if it pleases You, use me as Your voice—a word of welcome, a signpost of hope, a vessel of Your unifying love.
Let there be one flock and one Shepherd. Let walls come down, and arms stretch wide. Let pride be replaced with compassion, and let all who long for You know they have a place at Your side.
Lead me this day, Jesus. Shepherd my steps. Shape my thoughts, my words, my actions. I surrender this day to You—its work, its rest, its unexpected turns. Help me walk gently and bravely in Your name, a part of Your gathering grace.
In the stillness of this July morning, I rise with gratitude. I rise with purpose. I rise to follow You.
Amen.
May the voice of the Good Shepherd guide your steps today, and may His love flow through you to gather others into the peace of His fold.
