Praying the Scriptures
Tuesday Evening Prayer
July 22, 2025
You are those who have stood by me in my trials; and I confer on you, just as my Father has conferred on me, a kingdom, so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom. (Luke 22:28–30a)
Lord Jesus,
The sun has slipped behind Red Mountain, and its final warmth lingers in the hush of this desert evening. The creosote sways gently, and the earth exhales its heat. Overhead, the first stars begin to shine—quiet witnesses to the covenant You made with those who stood by You in Your trials.
And here I am, still standing. Not always strong, not always certain, but present—clinging to Your name through wilderness seasons and desert winds. I think of the moments I almost gave up, when shadows lengthened across my path and the weight of the day grew heavy. Yet You were there. Always there.
You promised a Kingdom. You promised a table. And more than silver or gold, I long for that seat—where sorrow is swallowed by joy, and trials are traded for fellowship in Your presence.
Tonight, beneath this indigo sky and the glow of faithful stars, I remember that promise. You have not forgotten me. And I will not forget You. May my life reflect the loyalty You called blessed, and my hope rest not in ease, but in endurance with You.
Let me taste even now the grace of Your communion, and keep my heart leaning toward the day when I will dine at Your table in the fullness of Your Kingdom.
Amen.
May the One who promises a seat at His table grant you peace in the waiting, strength in the trials, and joy in the quiet company of His presence tonight.
