Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Evening Prayer
July 16, 2025
But as for me, I will look to the LORD, I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me. Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me. (Micah 7:7–8)
O Lord, my God,
The sun has slipped behind Red Mountain, leaving a gentle hush over the desert. The heat of the day lingers faintly in the sand beneath my feet, but the breeze has turned cool now—softly weaving through the creosote and brushing across my face like Your unseen hand.
Tonight, as twilight deepens and the first stars begin to shimmer above the wide New Mexico sky, I lift my eyes to You. I will look to You, Lord—not to the noise of this world or the weight of my own fears—but to You, the God of my salvation. I believe with all that I am that You hear me, even when my words are just whispers of weariness.
Though I’ve stumbled today—though I’ve sat in silence, confused or burdened—I will not stay down. For when I fall, You lift me. And when the shadows stretch across my path, You do not leave me to walk in the dark alone. You, O Lord, are my light in the desert night.
The stillness around me is not empty. It holds Your presence. The quiet is not void—it is holy. Like the slow-cooling sand that holds the warmth of the day, my soul clings to the memory of Your faithfulness. And like the stars now beginning to pierce the dusk, Your promises shine even when all else fades from view.
So I wait—not in despair, but in hope. I trust—not because I see clearly, but because You have never failed me. Even here, in the quiet edges of the day, I rise—not in strength, but in grace.
Stay near to me, Lord, as the night deepens. Be my light until the dawn.
Amen.
May the God who meets us in the darkness shine His light upon your path tonight, and grant you peace until morning breaks.
