Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Morning Prayer
July 16, 2025
But as for me, I will look to the LORD, I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me. Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me. (Micah 7:7–8)
Gracious and Ever-Present God,
As the first golden light rises over the Florida Mountains, I lift my eyes to You. The hush of dawn wraps the desert in stillness, and the cool July air carries the earthy scent of creosote and mesquite. A soft wind stirs the sand, whispering peace into my spirit. And here—in this sacred quiet—I turn again to You.
The night has been long, Lord. Shadows have lingered in places I thought were healed. I have stumbled, I have sat in darkness, and more than once I’ve wondered if You still heard the cries of my heart. But Your Word tells me otherwise: “My God will hear me.” And so I speak this morning not with strength of my own, but with the trembling trust of one who believes that You are still near.
Though I have fallen, I know—I know—I shall rise. Though darkness has wrapped itself around me, You, O Lord, are my light. The enemy may gloat, but my hope is not defeated. Your mercy greets me with the sunrise, Your faithfulness stretches longer than the mountain shadows cast across this desert floor.
Let this morning be more than a moment—it is a turning. A rising. A quiet defiance against despair. I choose again to look to You. To wait for the God of my salvation. To trust that You are at work, even when I do not see it.
Lord, help me to watch. Help me to wait. Let the glow of this desert sunrise remind me that You are the Light who never leaves, the Voice who always hears, the Hand who lifts me when I fall.
And so I rise—heart first—into this new day.
Amen.
May the light of the Lord go before you this day, guiding your steps with hope, lifting you when you fall, and shining through every shadow with steadfast love.
