Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Evening Prayer
July 23, 2025
There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)
Gracious Savior,
The sun has slipped behind Red Mountain now, leaving only a warm trace on the edge of the sky. Twilight deepens above me, and the first stars have begun to twinkle—like distant whispers of Your glory stretching across the heavens. The desert floor lies hushed in sacred stillness, and the breeze carries the faint, earthy scent of creosote through the cooling air. In this holy silence, I pause and lift my heart to You.
Lord, as day gives way to night, I am filled with awe—not only at the beauty of this land, but at the wonder of Your mercy. You have written Your salvation into the very fabric of creation, and yet You made it known most fully in the name of Jesus. There is no one else—no other name under heaven—by which I can be saved. That truth quiets every anxious thought and anchors me in peace tonight.
Thank You, Jesus, for carrying me through this day—for being my strength when I was weary, my light when the path was dim, and my Shepherd when I wandered. I trust in You alone. Not in my own efforts, not in the world’s promises, but in Your saving grace that meets me here in the stillness.
Now, as the stars gather and night wraps the desert in silver and shadow, I surrender this day into Your hands. All that I accomplished, and all that remains undone—I lay it down. I rest not in what I have done, but in who You are: my Redeemer, my Rock, my salvation.
In Your holy and matchless name, Jesus, I find rest. I find hope. I find life eternal.
Amen.
May the peace of Christ, in whose name alone we are saved, guard your heart through the night and lead you gently into the dawn.
