Praying the Scriptures

Wednesday Evening Prayer

July 9, 2025

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name. I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. (Ephesians 3:14–17a)

Lord,

As the last light slips behind Red Mountain and the hush of twilight settles over the desert, I bow my heart before You. The creosote is still, the air is cooling, and the first stars blink gently into view—reminders of Your eternal presence stretching beyond what I can see or comprehend.

Here in the quiet, beneath this vast and holy sky, I remember that every family in heaven and on earth bears Your name. That includes mine. That includes me. And so I kneel—not just in posture, but in spirit—humbled by Your majesty and Your mercy.

Father, tonight I ask, in the mystery of Your glory, that You would strengthen me in my inner being. I am weary at times, worn by the weight of things I cannot control. Let Your Spirit breathe fresh power into my soul—like the wind that whispers through the canyon at dusk.

Let Christ dwell in my heart through faith—not as a distant idea, but as a living presence, steady and sure. Root me, Lord, deep in Your love. Let it be the soil I grow in, the shelter I rest in, the truth I stand on. May that love shape my thoughts, my words, and my days to come.

Thank You for this sacred stillness, for the desert’s gentle silence that allows me to hear You more clearly. Keep me in Your peace tonight, and tomorrow, may I rise strengthened in spirit and grounded in love.

Amen.

May you rest this night grounded in love, strengthened by the Spirit, and held in the quiet grace of Christ’s abiding presence.
