Praying the Scriptures

Sunday Morning Prayer

July 13, 2025

Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. (1 John 3:2)

O Lord of rising light,

As the sun climbs over the Florida Mountains, its first golden rays brush the desert floor, painting the creosote and mesquite in hues of rose and soft amber. The sky shifts gently from indigo to blue, then warms to gold—a quiet proclamation that Your mercies are new every morning.

In the hush of this sacred dawn, I hear the mourning dove call across the stillness, and I am reminded that I am Yours. A child of God—now. Even though the fullness of who I will become is hidden, I rest in the promise that when Christ is revealed, I will be like Him, for I shall see Him as He is. What a mystery. What a hope.

This desert morning, shaped by silence and sunlight, stirs a longing deep within me—to reflect Your Son more clearly. Make me more gentle in spirit, more steadfast in love, more radiant with grace. Shape me in ways unseen, so that my life might mirror Your heart.

Keep me humble, Lord, as this day unfolds. Let me walk in Your light, not striving to understand all things, but simply trusting, simply following.

I surrender this day to You—its steps, its silence, its songs. Let me live as Your beloved, looking always toward the day when I will see You face to face.

Amen.

May you walk into this day as God’s beloved child, held in grace, shaped by hope, and shining with the quiet light of Christ.
