Praying the Scriptures
Sunday Evening Prayer
August 31, 2025
Think of us in this way, as servants of Christ and stewards of God’s mysteries. Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy. (1 Corinthians 4:1–2)
Lord of time and eternity,
As the last light of August fades and summer’s warmth gives way to the promise of autumn, I lift my heart in gratitude. Thank You for the days You have granted me—the beauty of creation, the gifts of fellowship, and the lessons written into both joy and trial. You have been faithful through every season, and tonight I rest in the shelter of Your steadfast love.
You have called me to be a servant of Christ and a steward of Your mysteries. These words weigh gently yet firmly upon me, reminding me that my life is not my own, but entrusted to Your purposes. To be a steward is to care for what I do not fully understand, to walk by faith when Your ways are beyond my sight, and to live in such a way that trustworthiness shines through the ordinary hours of my days.
So I ask, Lord, grant me grace to be faithful. Strengthen my hands for the work You place before me. Guard my heart against weariness and distraction. May my words, my actions, and my prayers bear witness to the hope I have in Christ. In every season—whether in the abundance of summer or the quiet of autumn—teach me to be found trustworthy in Your sight.
Now I place this day and all that has been into Your keeping. As night deepens and the season turns, hold me in Your peace. May I rest in the assurance that the One who calls me is faithful and will not forsake me. Into Your hands, O Lord, I entrust my soul, this night, and the days to come.
Amen.
May the Lord, who calls us as servants and stewards of His mysteries, grant us peace this night and faithfulness in every season to come.
