Praying the Scriptures
Sunday Morning Prayer
August 31, 2025
Think of us in this way, as servants of Christ and stewards of God’s mysteries. Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy. (1 Corinthians 4:1–2)
Lord of the seasons,
I thank You this morning for bringing me to the close of the meteorological summer. Through long days of light and warmth, You have sustained me. In the work, the rest, and the moments of beauty scattered like wildflowers across these months, Your hand has been present. I praise You for guiding me safely to this new threshold.
As I stand at the turning of the seasons, I hear again the words of the Apostle: “Think of us in this way, as servants of Christ and stewards of God’s mysteries. Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy.” Lord, I confess that this is both a calling and a weight. You have entrusted me with the mystery of the gospel—treasures that are not mine to hoard, but to share faithfully. In my daily walk, in my words, in my witness, may I reflect the trust You have placed in me. May Your Church, too, live as a community of servants who proclaim Christ not for our own glory, but for the building up of Your Kingdom.
Now, as autumn draws near, grant me renewed faithfulness. Give me wisdom to discern what You ask of me, courage to obey, and humility to serve. May I be a trustworthy steward in all things—whether in small acts of kindness or in larger tasks of ministry. Shape my heart to be ever open to Your Spirit’s leading, that I may serve with joy, integrity, and hope.
And so, Lord, I close this prayer with confidence: You who have carried me through summer will also guide me through the coming season. To You be glory, honor, and praise, now and forever.
Amen.
May the God who calls us as servants and stewards bless us with faithfulness, wisdom, and hope as we step into the new season.
