Miracles in Our Midst
Jesus looked at them and said, “For mortals it is impossible, but for God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)
Introduction
The Bible is rich with miracles—from the parting of the Red Sea to the feeding of the five thousand. Each story reminds us of God’s power breaking into human impossibility. But we may wonder: do miracles still happen today, or are they just ancient tales of faith?
Reflection
Miracles aren’t always thunderclaps from heaven or seas dividing before our eyes. Sometimes they are as small as the timing of a phone call, the healing of a relationship, or the unexpected strength to endure a trial.
Imagine standing in a hospital waiting room, anxious about the test results for a loved one. The minutes feel like hours, and hope wavers. Then the doctor comes in with a smile: “It’s clear.” Relief floods your soul. Some may call it coincidence or medical progress, but to a heart of faith, this is nothing less than God’s mercy at work—a modern-day miracle.
The same God who multiplied loaves and stilled storms still works in our world, often in ways we overlook because we expect fireworks. But His hand is steady in the everyday.
Application
Today, open your eyes to the “ordinary miracles” around you. That breath in your lungs, the sunrise over the desert, the friend who shows up when you need them most—all are signs of God’s power and love. Keep a small journal and note one moment each day where you sense God’s presence breaking into your life. Over time, you will see that the miraculous is not rare—it is abundant.
Conclusion
Miracles didn’t stop with the closing of Scripture. They continue in quiet ways, reminding us that what is impossible for us remains possible with God. Trust Him to work in your life, even when you can’t yet see the outcome.
Prayer
Lord of wonders, thank You for the miracles of old that remind us of Your power and faithfulness. Open my eyes today to see the miracles You are working in my own life—both great and small. Teach me to trust that nothing is impossible with You. Strengthen my faith so that I may rejoice in Your presence and give You glory for every gift of grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
