Praying the Scriptures

Tuesday Evening Prayer

September 9, 2025

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Ephesians 6:10–11)

O Lord,

As the sun has slipped beneath the horizon and the last hues of amber and rose fade into indigo, I pause here in Deming beneath the shadow of the Florida Mountains. The first stars are beginning to pierce the desert sky, and I am reminded that You watch over me with a light that never dims.

I thank You for the strength You have given me today—the strength not of my own making, but born of Your Spirit within me. In moments of weakness, You have lifted me; in times of doubt, You have steadied my heart. I praise You, Lord, for being my refuge and my fortress.

Tonight, I confess my need for Your armor. Clothe me in Your truth, shield me with faith, and fasten upon me the helmet of salvation, that I may stand firm against every shadowed temptation and whispered lie of the enemy. Let Your Word be the sword that guards my soul, even in the stillness of the night.

As the desert grows quiet and the heavens stretch wide above me, I place myself fully in Your care. I release the burdens I have carried, the fears that linger, and the struggles that press upon me. Teach me to rest in the strength of Your power, and not my own.

Grant me peaceful sleep this night, O Lord, and awaken me to the dawn of a new day, ready to walk in Your strength and clothed in Your armor. May tomorrow bring fresh courage, renewed hope, and a steadfast spirit to follow wherever You lead.

In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen.

May the Lord’s strength be your shelter through the night, and His armor your steadfast protection until the light of a new day dawns.
