Praying the Scriptures

Friday Evening Prayer

September 19, 2025

You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now therefore, if you obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession out of all the peoples. Indeed, the whole earth is mine, but you shall be for me a priestly kingdom and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the Israelites. (Exodus 19:4–6)

Lord of mercy and strength,

As the day draws to its quiet close, I lift my heart in gratitude to You. I remember how You have carried me, even when I was weary, as an eagle bears its young on wings of power and grace. Your hand has steadied me through trials, and Your love has borne me safely to this moment.

You remind me tonight that I am Yours—not by my merit, but by Your covenant of grace in Christ. To be called Your treasured possession humbles me and fills me with hope. Out of all the peoples of the earth, You have set Your seal upon me, inviting me into the holiness of Your kingdom and the priesthood of all believers.

As summer fades and autumn whispers its coming, I pray to live each ordinary day with faithfulness. In the routines of work, rest, and worship, let my words and actions reflect obedience to Your voice. Teach me to embrace the season with open hands, using my days not to chase after fading treasures, but to walk as one set apart for You.

Now, as evening shadows settle and silence deepens, I yield myself again to Your care. I rest in the covenant promise that I am Yours, and You are mine. May my sleep be a dwelling in Your presence, and may tomorrow dawn with renewed strength to walk in Your ways.

Amen.

May the God who carries you on eagles’ wings guard your rest tonight and awaken you with renewed strength to walk in His covenant love.
