Praying the Scriptures
Monday Evening Prayer
September 15, 2025
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8–9)
Lord,
I thank You for the gift of this day and the grace that carried me through its hours. As the sun sinks low and the air cools around me, I pause in gratitude for the blessings—both seen and unseen—that You have placed in my path. The lengthening shadows remind me that every moment is held within Your mercy, and I rest in the peace of Your nearness.
Your Word tells me that Your ways are higher than my ways and that Your thoughts rise beyond my own. I confess how often I try to understand and control what lies before me, forgetting that my sight is limited and my wisdom small. Tonight I choose to trust in Your greater plan, surrendering my questions into the hands of the One whose ways are perfect.
As the season turns, I see fields ripening with grain and leaves beginning their slow change of color. The rhythms of the earth whisper to me of Your constancy—that just as summer yields to autumn, so too my life is shaped by Your faithful design. In these changes, I am reminded that You are ever guiding, ever providing, even when I cannot see the outcome.
Now, Lord, I lay this day to rest. Quiet my heart, steady my mind, and renew my spirit as I sleep. Grant me the peace that comes from trusting in You alone, and awaken me tomorrow with faith refreshed, ready to walk in the light of Your higher ways.
Amen.
May the peace of God, whose thoughts are higher than ours, guard your heart and mind this night and awaken you with renewed trust in His ways.
