Praying the Scriptures

Monday Evening Prayer

September 22, 2025

He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far he removes our transgressions from us. (Psalm 103:10–12)

Gracious Lord,

As this first day of autumn comes to its quiet close, I lift my heart in gratitude for Your mercy and steadfast love. The cool air, the lengthening shadows, and the gentle rustle of leaves remind me that You weave beauty even into the changing seasons, and Your faithfulness never fades.

I confess, O Lord, my shortcomings and sins—the words spoken too quickly, the pride that lingers, the moments I chose my own way instead of Yours. Yet I rest in the promise of Your Word: You do not deal with me according to my sins, nor repay me according to my iniquities. Instead, You lift the burden of my guilt and wash me in the immeasurable grace of Christ.

Tonight, as I feel the crispness of autumn and see the colors of renewal spread across the land, I remember that as far as the east is from the west, so far have You removed my transgressions. Such mercy is beyond my grasp, yet it is the anchor of my hope.

Lord, as I lay this day to rest, I entrust myself to Your steadfast love. May this new season be one of growth, of deeper trust, and of faithful service to You. Guard me through the night, renew me for tomorrow, and keep me ever mindful that Your love endures forever.

In Jesus’ holy name,

Amen.

May the Lord of mercy and steadfast love watch over your rest this night, guiding you with His unfailing grace into the season ahead.
