Praying the Scriptures
Saturday Evening Prayer
September 6, 2025
When Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.” (Mark 10:14–15)
Lord Jesus,
As the evening shadows lengthen and the first cool whispers of autumn drift across the desert air, I pause in stillness before You. The day is ending, and with it the weight of my striving begins to fade. In this quiet, I remember Your words: “Let the little children come to me.”
I thank You for reminding me that faith is not found in my accomplishments, nor in my anxious attempts to control tomorrow, but in the simple trust of a child who rests in the love of their Father. Tonight, I lay down my pride, my fears, and the burden of self-reliance. I long to receive Your kingdom with open hands and an open heart—uncluttered, unafraid, and unashamed.
Teach me again the beauty of simplicity, the joy of wonder, and the peace of resting safely in Your care. May I breathe deeply of Your presence, as a child nestles close to a parent, secure and untroubled.
And when morning comes, grant me the strength to walk in this childlike trust—not only tonight but through the day ahead. Let my life reflect the humility and hope of one who belongs to You.
Amen.
May the Lord grant you the gentle peace of a child’s trust, carrying you through this night and into the hope of a new tomorrow.
