Praying the Scriptures
Saturday Morning Prayer
September 6, 2025
When Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.” (Mark 10:14–15)
Lord Jesus,
As the coolness of September greets me this morning, I feel the gentle shift of the seasons—the warmth of summer giving way to the quiet beginnings of autumn. The air is crisp, the light more golden, and I am reminded that You invite me to begin this day with a heart as open and trusting as a child.
I thank You for the gift of Your presence, for the breath of this new morning, and for the small graces that whisper of Your kingdom in simple things—the song of a bird, the rustle of leaves, the promise of harvest. Let me not rush past these wonders, but receive them as a child would, with delight and gratitude.
Guide me today, Lord, in humility and in trust. Strip away the layers of pride and pretense, and grant me the grace to live simply—listening for Your voice, resting in Your care, and depending on You for each step I take. May I welcome others with the same openness You show, never hindering but always pointing toward Your embrace.
As this September morning unfolds, let my heart remain steady in You. Teach me to walk in the innocence of faith, to find joy in Your nearness, and to rest in the truth that the kingdom belongs to those who come as children.
I place this day in Your hands, Lord Christ, my Savior and my King.
Amen.
May the Lord bless this day with the joy of childlike faith, the peace of His presence, and the grace to walk humbly in Christ’s love.
