Praying the Scriptures

Sunday Evening Prayer

September 21, 2025

On the last day of the festival, the great day, while Jesus was standing there, he cried out, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me, and let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water.’” (John 7:37–38)

Lord Jesus,

As this Sunday evening settles in and the air grows cooler with the first touch of autumn, I bring before You my weary heart. The days behind me have left their mark—some heavy, some bright—but in all of them, I feel the thirst of my soul. Tonight, I hear again Your invitation: “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me.” So I come, longing for the refreshment only You can give.

Thank You, Lord, for the blessing of this day—for the joy of worship, for the gift of community, for the sacred rest that gathers me into Your peace. As harvest fields whisper in the evening breeze and the shadows lengthen across the land, I am reminded of Your goodness and the faithful rhythm of Your care.

You have poured Your living water into me, washing away the dust of the week and quenching the thirst of my spirit. I drink deeply of Your grace, and in that grace I find life and hope.

Now, as this week begins anew, I ask that the streams You have placed within me might flow outward, touching others with kindness, encouragement, and love. May my words carry gentleness, my actions reflect compassion, and my life point others to the Source of living water.

Keep me close to You this night and in the days to come, that I may rise each morning refreshed, ready to serve, and eager to share the abundance You so freely give.

Amen.

May the peace of Christ and the flow of His living water refresh your soul tonight and guide you with grace into the week ahead.
