Praying the Scriptures
Sunday Morning Prayer
September 21, 2025
On the last day of the festival, the great day, while Jesus was standing there, he cried out, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me, and let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water.’” (John 7:37–38)
Lord Jesus,
This Sunday morning greets me with the coolness of autumn air, the fields turning golden with the first fruits of harvest, and the shadows stretching long across the land. In this changing season, I feel my own thirst rise within me—not for what this world can give, but for the living water that only You promise.
I hear Your voice still calling: “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me.” I come, Lord. I bring my weary spirit, my restless thoughts, and my longing heart. Pour into me Your renewing streams, that I might drink deeply and be refreshed.
Let Your rivers of living water flow within me, washing away the dust of this week and filling me with Your Spirit’s life. As the waters of a stream never remain still but move outward, so let my faith and love flow into my community this day. In worship, in fellowship, in the smallest act of kindness, let what I have received from You spill over to others.
As the harvest begins and the earth reminds me of Your faithful provision, I thank You for the abundance of grace that never runs dry. May Your Spirit’s streams carry me into this day with joy, humility, and readiness to serve.
Into Your hands, O Lord, I place this Sunday, my heart, and my life.
Amen.
May the rivers of Christ’s living water flow through me this day, refreshing my spirit and blessing all whom I meet.
