Praying the Scriptures

Thursday Evening Prayer

September 11, 2025

Out of his anguish he shall see light; he shall find satisfaction through his knowledge. The righteous one, my servant, shall make many righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities. (Isaiah 53:11)

Lord of mercy,

As the September sun sets and the evening air cools, I rest beneath Your promise. The day’s labors and burdens fade into the lengthening shadows, and I lift my eyes to You, who brought light out of anguish. In Christ’s suffering, I see hope; in His wounds, I find my healing; in His righteousness, I am made whole.

I thank You that through His bearing of my iniquities, I am forgiven. The weight of guilt that once pressed upon me has been lifted, and peace now settles into my spirit like the quiet twilight upon the land. Where once there was sorrow, You have sown joy; where there was brokenness, You have poured in Your grace.

This evening, I breathe deeply of Your forgiveness. I trust that Your redemptive work is not just for the past but is alive in this very moment, shaping me, renewing me, and calling me into Your light. Even in the stillness, I find satisfaction in knowing You, for Your truth is a lantern in the darkening hours.

As the stars begin to appear and night wraps itself around the earth, I entrust myself fully into Your keeping. May my rest be sweet, my heart steadfast, and my spirit anchored in Christ, the Righteous One who makes me righteous.

Amen.

May the peace of Christ, who bore our iniquities and brought light from anguish, guard your heart and grant you rest this night.
