Praying the Scriptures

Tuesday Evening Prayer

September 16, 2025

When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, he will testify on my behalf. You also are to testify because you have been with me from the beginning. (John 15:26–27)

Lord Jesus,

As the day settles into quiet and the September sky deepens into twilight, I thank You for the gift of this day. The cooler air carries a hint of harvest, and the lengthening shadows remind me of the passing hours You have graciously given. I rest in gratitude for all that has been, both the labors and the blessings, knowing that each moment has rested in Your care.

Holy Spirit, Advocate and Comforter, I welcome Your presence in this stillness. You are the breath of truth who steadies my heart when the world feels uncertain, and You are the gentle guide who leads me along paths of faith. How often I forget that I do not walk alone; tonight, I remember and rejoice that You are ever with me.

Spirit of truth, You testify to the Son, and in Your strength, I too am called to bear witness. As the stars appear one by one in the September sky, may my words and actions shine quietly for Christ in the same way—faithful, steady, and unashamed. Let my life, however small it may seem, speak of His love, so that others might be drawn to the One who saves.

The evening breeze carries both rest and promise, whispering that tomorrow will bring fresh mercies. Tonight, I lay down my weariness in Your peace, asking for renewal of heart and strength of spirit. Grant me rest in Your presence and courage to testify anew when morning light returns.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, I rest.

Amen.

May the Spirit of truth grant you peace in this night, rest for your body, and strength to rise in faithful witness tomorrow.
