Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Evening Prayer
September 3, 2025
So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure, because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16–18)
Lord,
As the September sun sinks behind the mountains and the cool of evening settles across the desert, I thank You for walking with me through this day. Your presence has been my steady companion—in the quiet moments and in the hurried ones alike.
Yet I feel the frailty of my body and the weariness of my spirit. My steps grow slower, my strength feels thin, and the weight of daily burdens presses heavy. Truly, my outer self is wasting away.
But even in my weakness, I trust that You are renewing me within. Like the shifting light of evening that gives way to the promise of morning, so too are You shaping my heart with eternal strength that cannot be seen yet is surely at work.
What I endure now—though hard—are but slight and momentary troubles compared to the eternal glory You are preparing for me. These shadows will not last; Your light is greater and everlasting. Tonight, I fix my gaze not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, where my true hope rests.
So, Lord, grant me peace as night draws near. Quiet my anxious thoughts, calm my restless body, and cradle me in Your promise of life eternal. May I rise tomorrow with a heart renewed, fixed firmly on the glory that far outweighs every trial.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
May the Lord grant you rest this night, renewing your spirit with His unseen glory until the dawn of a new day.
