Praying the Scriptures

Wednesday Morning Prayer

September 3, 2025

So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure, because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16–18)

Lord of my days,

I thank You for the gift of this September morning. The air is cool, the light of dawn stretches softly across the land, and I feel Your mercy in the breath that fills my lungs. Each sunrise is a reminder that You have granted me another day to walk in Your grace.

I know, O God, that my body grows weaker with the passing years. Stiff joints, slowed steps, and weary bones remind me that my outer nature is wasting away. Yet, even as I feel the weight of time, I also feel Your Spirit renewing me within. My heart still beats with faith, my soul still sings with hope, for You are making me new day by day.

As the season shifts and summer ripens into autumn, I see lessons written in creation. The golden light, the cooler breeze, and the harvest fields tell me that life changes, but each season carries its beauty and purpose. So too, Lord, my later years are not without meaning, but are rich with Your presence and the promise of what lies beyond.

I bow before You with humility, knowing that these momentary afflictions are light compared to the eternal glory You are preparing for me. Help me, Lord, to lift my eyes above what fades, to set my heart not on what is temporary but on what is unseen and everlasting.

Grant me grace today to walk faithfully in the strength You provide, to speak with kindness, to live with gratitude, and to keep my hope anchored in Christ. May my steps, however few or slow, lead always toward You.

Amen.

May the peace of Christ guide your steps this day, renewing your spirit with the hope of what is eternal.
