Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Evening Prayer
September 17, 2025
[The crowds] were astounded beyond measure, saying, “He has done everything well; he even makes the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.” (Mark 7:37)
Lord Jesus,
As the lengthening shadows stretch across the fields and the coolness of September settles upon the land, I pause in this twilight hour. The air carries whispers of harvest and the promise of autumn’s nearness, and I find myself quieted by the beauty of Your creation at day’s end.
I am filled with wonder, just as the crowds long ago, for truly You have done everything well. You bring sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, speech to the silent, and life to the weary. My heart swells with gratitude, for in Your hands broken things are mended, and even my faltering faith is restored by Your touch.
Come, Lord, and heal what is wounded within me. Open my ears that I may hear Your word more clearly, and unloose my tongue that I may speak of Your goodness without fear. Let my life testify to the truth that You are still at work, making all things new.
Now, as the night deepens and stars begin their watch, I place myself in Your keeping. Grant me rest in Your peace, and may the assurance of Your love guard my heart until the dawn.
Amen.
May the peace of Christ, who has done all things well, rest upon me tonight and guide me safely into the dawn.
