Praying the Scriptures

Friday Morning Prayer

September 12, 2025

When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed; this must take place, but the end is still to come. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. This is but the beginning of the birth pangs… And the good news must first be proclaimed to all nations… and you will be hated by all because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. (Mark 13:7–8, 10, 13)

Lord of dawn and promise,

As the first rays of sunlight stretch over the eastern horizon, painting the desert sky of Deming in soft gold and rose, I lift my eyes to You. The mountains stand quiet, the earth hushed, and in this stillness I feel Your presence breathing hope into a new day.

Yet, Lord, I cannot ignore the words of Your Son: there will be wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes and famines. The world trembles with uncertainty, and hearts are often shaken by fear. Still, You remind me not to be alarmed, for these are but the beginning of birth pangs—the painful groaning of creation awaiting redemption.

Even so, Your Word calls me to hope and to purpose. The Good News must be proclaimed to all nations, and I am humbled to play my part—whether in spoken word, in daily kindness, or in steadfast prayer. Let my life, however small, be one more candle lit against the shadows.

And, Lord, I cling to the promise: the one who endures to the end will be saved. Strengthen my endurance this day. May the wide desert sky remind me of the vastness of Your mercy, and the rising sun of the certainty of Your salvation. I place myself in Your keeping, determined to endure with faith, hope, and love.

Amen.

May the God who paints the desert sky with dawn’s first light strengthen your heart to endure, fill you with hope, and keep you steadfast in Christ until the day of salvation.
