Praying the Scriptures

Monday Morning Prayer

September 8, 2025

Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger shut up his compassion?” And I say, “It is my grief that the right hand of the Most High has changed.” I will call to mind the deeds of the LORD; I will remember your wonders of old. I will meditate on all your work, and muse on your mighty deeds. (Psalm 77:9–12)

Lord,

I wake this September morning with that question lingering in my soul. The cool air greets me, the first hints of autumn touch the trees, and yet my heart feels restless. In the silence, I wonder if You still hear me, if Your mercy has grown distant, if Your compassion has slipped away like the warmth of summer.

But then I remember. I recall Your mighty works, O Lord—how You led Your people through the sea, how You raised me up in seasons when I thought I could not stand, how You answered prayers whispered in the night. Your wonders are written not only in Scripture but in my own story. They rise again in my memory like the harvest fields ripening now, proof that what You planted in the past still bears fruit today.

So I choose to remember, to meditate on all You have done. The turning of the leaves reminds me that change is not abandonment but renewal. The coolness of morning is a gentle sign that You still order the seasons, still guide the days, still hold me fast in Your covenant love.

Today, Lord, I surrender my doubts into Your keeping. I lay down my questions at Your feet and take up gratitude instead. Thank You for the gift of this new day, for the quiet beauty of September, for the assurance that You are the same God who has acted with power and mercy from generation to generation. Lead me now in trust, that I may walk faithfully in the light of Your presence.

Amen.

May the God who remembers His covenant and renews the seasons guide your steps today with peace, gratitude, and steadfast hope.
