Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Evening Prayer
December 17, 2025
“…this life was revealed, and we have seen it and testify to it, and declare to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.” — 1 John 1:2
Lord Jesus,
As night gathers softly around me, I pause to marvel at the mystery of Your life revealed. In the stillness of this Advent evening, I hold close the truth that the eternal life once hidden with the Father has stepped into our world, shining with a light no darkness can overcome. My heart fills with quiet joy as I remember that You did not remain distant, but came near—tangible, knowable, and radiant with grace and truth.
As I rest in this mystery, I feel a renewed longing to receive Your life more deeply and to bear faithful witness to what You have revealed. You have shown us what is eternal, what is true, what is love, and I want my words, actions, and presence to testify to that same life. Teach me to live in such a way that others may glimpse Your light through me—humbly, gently, and with the joy that comes from knowing You.
Now, as this day fades, I settle into the peace of Your nearness. The world grows quiet, and so does my spirit, comforted by the assurance that the life You revealed is the life that holds me even here, even now. Let Your joy rest upon me like a soft mantle, steadying my heart as I surrender this day into Your care, trusting that Your eternal life surrounds me through the night.
Amen.
May the unchanging light of Christ, revealed for all people, rest upon us tonight and guide our hearts in joy as we await His coming.
