Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Evening Prayer
December 31, 2025
“Long ago you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you endure; they will all wear out like a garment. You change them like clothing, and they pass away; but you are the same, and your years have no end.” — Psalm 102:25–27
Dear Lord,
As the sun goes down behind the mountains and the year comes to a close, I just want to be still with You. It is the seventh day of Christmas, and here in the quiet of the high desert evening, I am looking back on the months that have passed. I thank You for walking with me through every up and down this year, and for being my strength when I needed it most.
I am thinking tonight about how You laid the foundations of the earth so long ago. Everything around me changes and wears out like old clothes, but You never do. The years roll on and the world turns, but You stay exactly the same. That promise gives me so much peace right now, knowing that no matter what changes in my life or in this town, You are the solid rock that doesn't move.
As I get ready to wake up to a new year, I put my hope in You. Help me to step into tomorrow with confidence, keeping my eyes fixed on Jesus, whose birth we are still celebrating. Please bless my home here in Deming and help me to live in a way that shows Your unchanging love to everyone I meet.
Amen.
May the unchanging love of God surround us all this night, carrying every heart safely into a new year filled with His peace.
