Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Morning Prayer
December 31, 2025
“Long ago you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you endure; they will all wear out like a garment. You change them like clothing, and they pass away; but you are the same, and your years have no end.” — Psalm 102:25–27
O Ancient of Days,
As the morning light breaks over the Florida Mountains and illuminates the high desert of Deming, I bow before You on this Seventh Day of Christmas. Of old, You laid the foundation of the earth, and these vast New Mexico skies are the work of Your hands. In the quiet of this morning, amidst the yucca and the sage, I recognize Your sovereignty that established the world long before my time and will sustain it long after.
On this final morning of the year, I feel the passage of time as surely as the shifting desert winds. As the scripture declares, the heavens and earth will perish, but You endure; they will all wear out like a garment. As I prepare to cast off the worn cloak of this past year, with all its triumphs and tears, I find deep comfort in the truth that while seasons change and time passes away, You remain the same.
Grant me the grace to walk into the new year anchored in Your eternal nature, knowing that Your years have no end. As the Christ child was born to bring light into our darkness, let Your changeless love be my steady guide through the changing times ahead. May I rest securely in Your permanence today and always, trusting that You hold my past, my present, and my future in Your hands.
Amen.
May the blessing of the eternal God, whose years have no end, rest upon us all as we carry the light of Christmas into the coming new year.
