Praying the Scriptures
Friday Evening Prayer
January 23, 2026
Almighty Father,
As the sun dips below the western horizon and the sharp chill of this January evening settles over the high desert, I pause in the quiet of my home here in Deming to seek Your presence. The vast sky above the Florida Mountains shifts from the clarity of day to the deep indigo of night, reminding me of the majesty of Your creation and the profound stillness that winter brings to this land. In this silence, I feel the smallness of my own life against the backdrop of Your eternal kingdom, yet I find deep comfort knowing that You are the One Lord who establishes His throne in the heavens and watches over every shifting shadow on the valley floor.
Though the world outside often feels fractured and my own faith can falter under the weight of human limitation, I look to the sovereignty that rules over all things with perfect wisdom. You are the Father of all, binding Your children together even when we struggle to see the invisible cords of unity that hold us. Where I see only weakness and the long, dark nights of the season, You see the potential for life to spring forth from the dormant earth. I surrender my anxious need to control the outcome of my days, trusting instead that Your power is capable of bringing immense growth from the smallest seeds of trust I offer to You.
Grant me the grace to rest tonight with a quiet confidence, knowing that You are at work even while I sleep, knitting together what has been torn and nurturing the hidden places of my heart. As the stars emerge over the open range, let my soul rise to bless You in all places of Your dominion, grateful for the unseen transformation You are orchestrating within me and within Your Church. May I wake with a renewed purpose, ready to walk in the unity of Your love and to lean entirely on the mighty strength that carries me through every season.
Amen.
May the grace of the One Father encompass us all this night, knitting our hearts together in peace as we rest under the canopy of His eternal love.
