Praying the Scriptures
Friday Morning Prayer
January 23, 2026
Heavenly Father,
In the chill of this Friday morning, I stand amidst the quiet vastness of the high desert, watching the morning light begin to crest the peaks of the Florida Mountains to the east. The air here in Deming is sharp and still, a reminder of the winter season that rests upon the land, yet I know that your throne is established above this silence, ruling over every shifting shadow and every grain of sand. As the world slowly wakes, I bring my own smallness before your greatness, acknowledging you as the one Lord and Father of all, the source of life that sustains both the dormant earth and my own waiting soul.
As the sun climbs higher, illuminating the mesquite and the yucca, I feel a deep longing for a faith that is as constant and inevitable as the dawn. I confess that my trust is often frail, shaken by the uncertainties of life and the limitations of my own human understanding, yet I rest in the assurance that your power is perfect in my weakness. You are the sovereign King whose dominion knows no boundaries, capable of holding all my fragmented hopes together; let your light break into the hidden corners of my heart, transforming my hesitation into a quiet confidence that your grace is sufficient for everything I face.
Send me out now into this new day with a spirit of unity and peace, recognizing your handiwork in everyone I meet and in every task I undertake. Just as the winter desert holds the deep, hidden promise of future bloom, I trust that you are bringing growth and change from even the smallest acts of obedience and love. Grant me the courage to serve you with gladness, knowing that all your works in all places of your dominion join together in praise, and let my life today be a simple, steady offering to your glory.
Amen.
May the One Lord and Father of us all, whose dominion extends over every creature and corner of the earth, bind our hearts together in peace and guide us forward in the strength of His uniting love.
