Monday Evening Prayer

January 26, 2026

“The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of all who fear him; he also hears their cry, and saves them.” — Psalm 145:18-19

Lord,

As the sun sinks below the western horizon and the last light fades from the Florida Mountains to the east, I come to You at the close of this Monday. The air here in the high desert is thin and cold, stripping away the chaotic distractions of the day and leaving me with a stark, quiet need for Your presence. Just as this arid land waits in silence for the eventual mercy of rain, my soul waits for You, knowing that You are near to those who simply ask, close enough to hear the honest whisper that the winter wind might otherwise carry away.

In the vastness of this darkening New Mexico sky, my own strength feels small and often insufficient for the burdens I carry. I confess that the start of this week has brought its own shadows and uncertainties, reminders of my limitations and the fragility of my own resolve. Yet, I rest my heart in the assurance that Your power is made perfect in this very weakness. You are the one who listens to the cry of the weary, and I trust that You are holding me fast even when the path ahead seems obscured by the long night, believing that Your strength begins exactly where my own ability ends.

As I prepare for rest, plant in me a seed of hope that defies the dormant appearance of the season. Let me trust that even the smallest offering of faith is enough for You to bring about profound growth and necessary change in my life, just as life persists beneath the frozen surface of the ground. Watch over this house and this town while we sleep, and prepare my spirit to wake with a renewed sense of purpose, ready to walk in Your light regardless of what tomorrow brings.

Amen.

May the Lord, who is near to all who call upon Him, grant us a quiet night and a perfect end, holding us and all creation in His loving care.
