Praying the Scriptures

Thursday Evening Prayer

January 1, 2026

“Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”Matthew 6:9–10

Our Father in heaven,

As the last light fades behind the mountains and the vast desert sky turns to indigo, I bow my heart to hallow Your holy name. On this Eighth Day of Christmas, as I mark the beginning of a new year and remember the naming of Your Son, I acknowledge Your sovereignty over the winds that sweep across these plains and the sacred silence of the evening. May my worship rise like incense from this high desert, honoring You who are the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end of all my days.

Your kingdom come, Lord, right here in Deming as it is in heaven. Let Your peace descend upon this arid land, bringing living water to the thirsty soul and stillness to the weary spirit. May the name of Jesus be the banner over my home tonight, signaling a reign of grace and truth that transforms the shadows of this world into the light of Your presence. I ask that Your rule be established in my heart, driving out fear and planting the seeds of hope for the months to come.

Your will be done in my life throughout this coming year, just as the stars above faithfully keep their watch. Grant me the strength to walk the path You have laid out before me, surrendering my own plans to Your perfect purpose. Whether in times of drought or seasons of abundance, align my desires with Yours, that I may serve as a vessel of Your love in this community. I commit this night and the year ahead into Your hands, trusting in Your providential care.

Amen.

May the peace of God and the power of the Holy Name guard our rest this night and guide us all into a year of grace.
