Praying the Scriptures
Thursday Morning Prayer
January 1, 2026
“Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” — Matthew 6:9–10
Our Father in heaven,
As the first light of this new year touches the peaks of the Florida Mountains, I lift my heart to You in the quiet of this high desert morning. On this eighth day of Christmas, I pause to remember and revere the moment Your Son received the holy name of Jesus, a name that embodies salvation and grace. Let Your name be hallowed not only in the heavenly realms but here in the stillness of the Mimbres Valley, kept sacred on my lips and in my thoughts as I step into the unknown of the year ahead.
Let Your kingdom come to this dusty earth, bringing the peace of heaven to the open spaces and the community of Deming. As the calendar turns, I ask that Your reign be established in my home and in my daily interactions, superseding my own plans and desires. May the joy and promise of the Incarnation, which I have celebrated this Christmastide, not fade with the season but take deep root, transforming the ordinary days of this coming year into a reflection of Your glory and a testament to Your sovereignty.
Let Your will be done in my life today and throughout the seasons to come, just as it is perfectly fulfilled in heaven. Grant me the wisdom to discern Your path amidst the noise of the world and the courage to align my earthly walk with Your divine purpose. Mold my spirit to accept what You ordain, that I may serve as a faithful vessel of Your love, offering every labor and every rest as an act of obedience to You.
Amen.
May the blessing of the Holy Name of Jesus rest upon us all, guiding our steps into this new year with the assurance of God’s inclusive and enduring love.
