Praying the Scriptures

Thursday Evening Prayer

January 15, 2026

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.” — Romans 8:26

Heavenly Father,

As the sun dips below the horizon and the high desert air turns crisp this Thursday evening, settling over the shadows of the Florida Mountains, I come to You in the stillness. The vastness of the darkening sky over Deming reminds me of how small I am, and how often my words fall short of expressing the burdens and hopes resting within my soul. Just as the land rests in the quiet of winter, waiting for a season of renewal, I pause now to acknowledge my own limitations and my need for a strength that is far greater than my own.

In this silence, I trust that Your Spirit is moving within the depths of my heart, articulating the prayers I cannot find the voice to speak. When uncertainty obscures my path like the night shadows, I rest in the assurance that You are working all things together for good, even when the evidence is hidden from my eyes. You know the unspoken longings of my spirit and the intricate details of my life, holding them with a power that turns weakness into a vessel for Your grace.

Grant me the peace to surrender my worries into Your hands, believing that even the smallest seeds of faith are being nurtured by Your love in the unseen places. As I rest tonight, restore my spirit and align my will with Yours, so that I may rise with a quiet confidence, ready to serve and to see the growth You are bringing forth from this season of waiting. Let my trust in You be my anchor until the morning light returns.

Amen.

May the Spirit who speaks for us when we have no words grant us rest this night, holding us all in the embrace of God's unfailing love.
