Praying the Scriptures

Tuesday Evening Prayer

January 20, 2026

“Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” — Isaiah 41:10

Gracious God,

As the winter sun fades behind the horizon to the west, casting a soft alpenglow upon the Florida Mountains to the east, I pause in the stillness of this Tuesday evening. The high desert air settles with a January chill, reminding me of the quiet dormancy of the earth, a time of waiting and hidden preparation. Here in the deepening twilight, I acknowledge my longing for a connection that goes deeper than surface belief, seeking to anchor my heart in the assurance that I am not alone in this vastness.

In this Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, I ask that You forge within me and my brothers and sisters the bond of peace that surpasses all understanding. When I am tempted to look around in dismay or tremble at my own frailty, remind me that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. Banish the fear that whispers I must stand solely on my own strength, and instead, help me to lean entirely on Your power to uphold and sustain me. Let Your light break through the uncertainties that cloud my mind, proving that You are my God, steadfast and present in every moment of doubt.

Grant me the quiet confidence to trust that You are nurturing growth even now, in the unseen places of my soul, just as the desert awaits its season of bloom. As I lay down to sleep, I release my anxieties into Your righteous hands, believing that You can bring greatness from the smallest seeds of faith I offer. Renew my spirit for the work ahead, that I may rise with a heart full of hope, ready to walk boldly in the promise of Your help and the comfort of Your nearness.

Amen.

May we all rest tonight in the safety of the bond of peace, knowing that the same God upholds us all with His righteous right hand.
