Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Evening Prayer
January 14, 2026
“For he was crucified in weakness, but lives by the power of God. For we are weak in him, but in dealing with you we will live with him by the power of God.” — 2 Corinthians 13:4
Almighty Father,
As the winter sun descends beyond the high desert horizon, bringing a hush over Deming this Wednesday evening, I pause to acknowledge Your presence in the stillness. The chill in the air reminds me of the dormant season, a time when the earth rests and waits, yet I know that life continues beneath the quiet surface. Just as the landscape around me stands resilient against the January cold, I bring my own tired spirit before You, admitting my limitations and the frailty I often feel when the day’s work is done.
Lord, I confess that I often measure my worth by my own strength, forgetting that Your power is made perfect in my weakness. In the quiet of this night, help me to see that my vulnerabilities are not failures, but opportunities for Your grace to sustain me. I long for a deeper faith that does not rely on visible evidence or human capability, but rests entirely on the truth that You are at work within me. Teach me to trust that even in moments of uncertainty, You are cultivating growth and shaping my heart in ways I cannot yet see.
As I prepare to rest, I place my confidence not in what I have achieved today, but in Your ability to bring new life out of what seems small and insignificant. Grant me the peace that comes from surrendering control, allowing me to sleep with the assurance that I am held by a strength far greater than my own. May I wake tomorrow with a renewed spirit, ready to walk by faith and not by sight, trusting in the sufficiency of Your power to guide my steps through the days ahead.
Amen.
May the God of peace, who is powerful even in our weakness, guard our hearts and minds as we rest together in His grace tonight.
