Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Morning Prayer
January 14, 2026
“For he was crucified in weakness, but lives by the power of God. For we are weak in him, but in dealing with you we will live with him by the power of God.” — 2 Corinthians 13:4
Gracious Lord,
As the chill of this January Wednesday settles over the high desert, I look toward the eastern horizon where the Florida Mountains stand silhouetted against the dawn. The air here in the valley is sharp and cold, and the landscape appears dormant, resting in the quiet of winter. In this stillness, I feel the reality of my own smallness and the fragility of human strength, yet I find peace in knowing that You are holding all things together. The silence of the morning is not empty, but filled with the anticipation of the light that is about to crest the peaks and warm the earth.
I ask that You meet me in this place of vulnerability, reminding me that true life often springs from what appears weak to the world. Just as the day breaks the hold of the night, let Your power work perfectly within my limitations. Where I feel uncertain or insufficient, I pray that You would plant a deep, unshakable trust in Your ability to bring growth and transformation. Help me to stop striving in my own energy and instead learn to live by the power that sustains the universe, confident that You are constantly at work even when the results are not yet visible to my eyes.
As the sun rises higher and I step into the tasks of this day, renew my purpose and steady my heart. Let this Wednesday be marked not by frantic effort, but by a calm reliance on Your spirit guiding my steps. May my life today reflect the hope of the gospel, showing that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. I commit my plans, my interactions, and my spirit into Your hands, trusting that You will bring fruitfulness out of this winter season and lead me in the way of grace.
Amen.
May we go forth into the light of this new day, empowered by the grace that meets us in our weakness and unites us in God’s unfailing love.
