Praying the Scriptures
Friday Morning Prayer
January 2, 2026
“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name. I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love.” — Ephesians 3:14–17
Almighty Father,
As the morning sun crests over the Florida Mountains on this ninth day of Christmas, I bow my knees before You, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name. In the crisp silence of the high desert winter, I pause to acknowledge Your sovereignty and the beauty of Your creation that surrounds me here in Deming, seeking the stillness required to hear Your voice above the fading bustle of the season.
I pray that, according to the boundless riches of Your glory, You may grant me to be strengthened with power through Your Spirit in my inner being. As the festive lights of Christmastide remain, let them serve as an outward sign of the inward resilience You are forging within my soul, preparing me to carry the light of the Incarnation into the coming year with steadfast endurance and spiritual vitality.
May Christ dwell in my heart through faith, that I may be rooted and grounded in love, just as the ancient plants of this land strike deep roots to endure and flourish. Let this foundation of love be so firm that I may begin to comprehend the breadth and length and height and depth of Your grace, holding fast to the mystery of the Word made flesh who has come to make His home in me.
Amen.
May we all go forth rooted and grounded in love, empowered by the Spirit to share the boundless depth of Christ’s grace with every person we meet.
