Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Morning Prayer
January 21, 2026
“In my distress I called upon the LORD; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.” — Psalm 18:6
Gracious God,
The air is crisp this Wednesday morning in the high desert, the January chill settling over the land while the first light touches the horizon. In the quiet of this new day, surrounded by the vastness of the plains and the distant mountains of Deming, I am reminded of my own smallness and the greatness of Your creation. I come to You now, before the noise of the world intrudes, seeking the stillness where I can hear Your voice and align my heart with Yours.
In times when my spirit feels heavy or the way forward seems unclear, I call out to You, knowing that You are never far away. As we are called to one hope, I pray that You would bridge the gaps between us and bind Your people together in a shared trust in Your power. Break through the shadows of my doubt and the limitations of my human weakness, reminding me that my cry reaches Your ears and that Your strength is made perfect when I have none of my own.
Instill in me a quiet confidence today, that I might trust in Your ability to bring forth life and growth from even the smallest acts of obedience. As I go about my work, let this hope anchor my soul, turning my anxiety into peace and my hesitation into purposeful action. May I walk in the light of Your presence, confident that You are shaping me and my community into something beautiful, and may my life today be a testament to the unity and love found only in You.
Amen.
May the God who hears our every cry unite us in one hope, sending us forth to walk together in strength, peace, and unfailing love.
