Praying the Scriptures
Friday Evening Prayer
February 13, 2026
“Accept whatever befalls you, and in times of humiliation be patient. For gold is tested in the fire, and those found acceptable, in the furnace of humiliation.” — Sirach 2:4-5
Heavenly Father,
As the sun dips low and the sharp chill of this February Friday settles over the Mimbres Valley, I pause to find Your stillness in the cooling air. To the east, the Florida Mountains hold the final, fading violet of the day, standing as silent sentinels against the deepening twilight. The high desert wind carries a bite, reminding me of the winter that still holds fast, yet in this quiet closing of the week, I bring my tired heart to You, seeking the warmth that only Your presence can provide.
I ask for the grace to accept the shifting seasons of my life with a steady spirit, trusting that You are at work even in the heat of my struggles. You know the hidden weights I have carried these past few days and the moments where my strength felt brittle; help me to remain patient when I feel humbled by my own limitations. Remind me that true faith is often forged not in moments of ease, but in the furnace of perseverance, and that You are gently refining me, burning away the dross to reveal something lasting and true.
Grant me the courage to rest tonight with a heart full of quiet confidence, believing that You are cultivating growth in the unseen places of my soul. Just as this arid land waits patiently for the spring rains to bring forth sudden life from the dust, help me to wait on Your timing without fear or reservation. May I wake tomorrow refreshed and ready to walk in trust, knowing that You hold my future secure and that Your love is the steady ground beneath my feet.
Amen.
May the God who brings life from the desert dust watch over us all this night, granting us rest from our struggles and a spirit refined by His unwavering love.
