Friday Morning Prayer

February 13, 2026

“Accept whatever befalls you, and in times of humiliation be patient. For gold is tested in the fire, and those found acceptable, in the furnace of humiliation.” — Sirach 2:4-5

Heavenly Father,

As I wake to the deep chill of this Friday morning in the high desert, the air here in Deming feels crisp and biting, settling over the quiet streets and the resting earth. The Florida Mountains are standing as silent, dark silhouettes against a graying sky, and the winter cold seems to have seeped into the very ground, pausing the life that teems beneath the soil. In this stillness, I feel the weight of my own human frailty and the smallness of my life against the vastness of this horizon, yet I offer this silence to You, accepting the cold not as an absence of warmth, but as a necessary season of waiting and preparation for what is to come.

As the sun begins to crest, casting its first pale, golden light across the mesquite and the frost-dusted sage, I am reminded that You are constantly at work, even in the shadows and the uncertainty. I ask for the grace to remain patient when my spirit feels tested, trusting that the struggles I face are not meant to break me, but to purify my heart like metal in a forge. When I feel weak or unsure of the path forward, help me to lean not on my own limited understanding, but on Your enduring strength, recognizing that Your light is sufficient to pierce through any darkness that clouds my mind or my day.

Grant me a quiet, steady confidence as I step out into the hours ahead, believing that You are capable of bringing profound growth from the smallest seeds of faith I plant today. Let my trust in You be unshakeable, rooted deep like the desert scrub that withstands the wind, knowing that You are shaping me and guiding my steps toward a purpose I cannot yet fully see. May I walk through this day with a heart open to Your refining love, finding hope in the promise that You are making all things new, even in the midst of winter.

Amen.

May the grace that sustains the desert in winter go with us all, refining our hearts with patience and filling our days with the steady, warming light of unshakeable hope.
