Monday Evening Prayer

February 16, 2026

“Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit that is from God, so that we may understand the gifts bestowed on us by God.” — 1 Corinthians 2:12

Heavenly Father,

As the last light of this Monday fades from the high desert, the air turns sharp and cold here in Deming. I look toward the east, where the jagged silhouette of the Florida Mountains stands silent against the deepening violet of the twilight sky, a steady and immovable presence in the changing light. The wind carries the chill of February, a reminder of the winter still lingering in the soil, yet there is a profound stillness in this vast expanse that invites my soul to pause. In this quiet moment, I lay down the noise of the world and the weariness of the week’s beginning, seeking the warmth of Your presence to settle over me like the coming night.

I confess that I often rely on my own limited understanding, trying to navigate the complexities of my life with a wisdom that is fragile and fleeting. Yet, I know You have not given me a spirit that mirrors the anxious striving of this age, but rather Your own Spirit, that I might truly recognize the grace You have so freely bestowed upon me. Where I feel small or inadequate, remind me that Your power is not limited by my weakness, but is often most visible within it. Help me to trust that even in this dormant season, when the ground seems hard and yieldless, You are secretly at work, preparing a harvest that my eyes cannot yet see but my heart must learn to believe in.

As the shadows lengthen across the plains and the stars begin to fill the wide New Mexico sky, grant me a confidence that is quiet, deep, and unshakeable. Let the seeds of faith buried within me take root, rooted in the knowledge that You bring growth and transformation even from the smallest beginnings. May I rest tonight knowing that I do not need to understand every step of the journey, only that I am led by Your wisdom and held securely by Your love. Renew my purpose for the days to come, that I may walk not in fear, but in the blessed assurance of the gifts You have placed within me.

Amen.

May the Spirit of God rest upon us all this night, quieting our minds and filling our rest with the assurance of a love that is freely given to every heart.
