Saturday Evening Prayer

February 14, 2026

“Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.” — Romans 5:1-5

Gracious Father,

As the last warmth of this Saturday fades from the high desert air, I turn my gaze toward the Florida Mountains rising in the east, their jagged peaks catching the final, soft hues of twilight before the night takes hold. On this evening set aside to celebrate love, I find myself seeking a peace that runs deeper than human affection, a stillness that mirrors the vast, quiet plains surrounding me. I stand here in the winter chill, conscious of my own smallness against this wide horizon, asking to be justified not by my own striving or strength, but by a simple, grounding faith in You. Let this silence not be empty, but filled with the assurance that I am at peace with You, held securely even as the shadows lengthen across the valley.

As the sky turns to a deep velvet and the first stars appear above the desert floor, I confess that my heart sometimes falters under the weight of uncertainty and the trials that seem to linger like a drought. I look at the dormant scrub brush and the dry earth, seeing in them a reflection of my own weakness and my impatience for growth. Yet, I ask for the grace to trust that even in these seasons of struggle, You are cultivating endurance and character within me, just as life persists here in the arid soil. Pour Your love into my heart through the Holy Spirit, reminding me that the pressures I face are not without purpose, but are the very means by which You are shaping a spirit capable of holding a stronger, more resilient hope.

I rest my head tonight with a quiet confidence that does not rely on visible abundance but on the promise of Your power working in the unseen places. On this day of affection, let me be anchored in the hope that does not disappoint, knowing that Your love has already bridged the gap between my frailty and Your glory. Just as I trust the sun will rise again over those eastern peaks to warm this land, I trust that You are bringing new life and transformation out of what feels small and unfinished in my soul. I commit my spirit into Your hands, ready to embrace the future with a renewed sense of purpose and a heart fully reliant on Your grace.

Amen.

May the hope that never disappoints and the love that knows no end guard the hearts of us all as we rest in peace this night.
