Thursday Evening Prayer

February 5, 2026

“I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.” (Psalm 9:1–2)

Lord God,

As the last light fades from this Thursday evening and the sharp chill of February settles over the high desert, I come before You with a heart seeking stillness. I look out toward the east, where the jagged silhouette of the Florida Mountains stands firm against the darkening violet sky, reminding me of the endurance of Your creation amidst the shifting winds of my life. In this quiet moment, before the town of Deming sleeps, I offer You my whole heart, setting aside the distractions of the week to recount the subtle but wonderful deeds You have wrought this day, finding gratitude in the crisp air and the vast, open silence.

I confess that my own strength often feels as brittle as the dry winter grass, and I sometimes struggle to see Your hand at work when the shadows lengthen. Yet, I will be glad and exult in You, for I know that Your power is made perfect in my hesitation and weakness. Just as the stars are beginning to puncture the darkness above the valley, let Your light break through the uncertainties that cloud my mind. I rest in the knowledge that You are the Most High, capable of holding my worries and transforming my frailty into a testimony of Your sustaining grace.

As I prepare for rest, I place my hope in Your ability to bring profound growth from the smallest of beginnings. Like the dormant seeds hidden in this desert soil waiting for the spring rains, I trust that You are cultivating new life within me, even when the surface seems still and unchanged. Grant me the peace to sleep soundly and the grace to wake with a song of praise on my lips, ready to embrace the changes You are preparing and to walk confidently into the promise of a new morning.

Amen.

May the peace of the Creator rest upon us all, wrapping every heart in safety and guiding us gently through the night into the hope of a new dawn.
