Praying the Scriptures
Tuesday Evening Prayer
February 10, 2026
“On that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; he sets up victory like walls and bulwarks. Open the gates, so that the righteous nation that keeps faith may enter in. Those of steadfast mind you keep in peace—in peace because they trust in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for in the Lord GOD you have an everlasting rock.” — Isaiah 26:1-4
Lord God,
As the sun dips low across the high desert and the chill of a February Tuesday settles over Deming, I turn my gaze toward the east where the jagged silhouette of the Florida Mountains fades into the deepening purple of twilight. In this quiet transition from day to night, my soul seeks the stability only You can provide, a fortress far more enduring than these ancient peaks that watch over the valley. The winter winds that sweep across the plains often leave me feeling exposed and small, yet I long to find that perfect peace which comes not from the absence of the storm, but from a mind and heart completely fixed on You.
As the shadows lengthen and the vast sky turns to velvet, I confess that my own defenses are often too weak to hold back the anxieties that crowd the edges of my thoughts. I have tried to rely on my own strength, but tonight I acknowledge that true safety lies in trusting a power far greater than my own. Break down the walls I have built out of fear and help me to lean entirely on You; where I see only the barren ground of winter and the dormancy of the desert, help me to believe in the life You are cultivating beneath the surface, preparing growth in places I had assumed were empty.
Grant me the grace to rest tonight in the certainty that You are the everlasting Rock, immovable even when my circumstances feel shifting and uncertain. As the silence of the evening deepens, I surrender my need to see the full harvest immediately, choosing instead to cherish the small, quiet beginnings of change that You are working within me. May my confidence in Your faithfulness be renewed, so that I might rise tomorrow with a steady purpose, ready to walk through the open gates of a new day with trust and hope.
Amen.
May the Everlasting Rock hold us all in perfect peace this night, grounding our hearts in safety and guiding us gently toward the hope of a new dawn.
