Praying the Scriptures

Monday Morning Prayer

February 9, 2026

“You who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, will say to the LORD, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’” — Psalm 91:1–2

Almighty God,

As the chill of the high desert dawn settles over the Florida Mountains and the quiet streets of Deming, I come to You seeking the safety of Your presence before the rush of the week begins. In this stillness, with the February air crisp and cold against the window, I find my resting place not merely within these walls, but in the shadow of Your protection. The winter sun is slow to rise, yet even in this dim light, my soul waits for You, acknowledging that You are my refuge and my fortress, the only steady anchor when the world feels vast and the morning silence feels heavy.

As the first light begins to break across the horizon, piercing the lingering gray of the valley, I confess that my own strength is often as brittle as the dry winter scrub. There are moments when the uncertainties of the days ahead loom large, and my faith feels too small to meet the demands of this Monday; yet, I place my trust in a power that far exceeds my human frailty. I ask You to invade the hidden corners of my heart with Your radiance, turning my hesitation into a quiet confidence that relies not on my own ability to endure, but on Your unshakeable promise to hold me fast when the way forward seems unclear.

Grant me the vision to see how You are already at work in the seemingly dormant landscape of my life, bringing forth new growth from what appears small and insignificant. Just as this land waits patiently for the coming spring, help me to walk into this new week with an expectation of Your goodness, believing that even the slightest act of obedience is tended by Your hand. May I step out the door this morning with a renewed spirit and a purposeful stride, carrying the deep assurance that I do not walk alone, but am held securely by the One who brings life from the dust.

Amen.

May we go forth into the light of this new week, united under the shadow of the Almighty, trusting that the strength we lack is abundantly supplied by the One who is our refuge.
