Thursday Morning Prayer

February 2, 2026

“Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”Luke 10:20

Lord of the High Desert,

As the chill of this February morning settles over the valley and the first light outlines the Florida Mountains, I come to You seeking a stillness that matches this vast, quiet landscape. The air here in Deming is crisp and sharp, reminding me of the clarity I desire in my own spirit, yet I often feel cluttered by the noise of my own striving and the need to see immediate results. In this quiet moment before the town fully wakes and the day’s demands begin, I ask You to quiet the restless parts of my heart that believe I must constantly perform or conquer to be worthy of Your attention.

I confess that I am often tempted to measure my days by the visible victories I achieve or the obstacles I manage to clear from my path. Yet, You invite me into a deeper joy that does not depend on my ability to control the outcomes of this Thursday, but rather rests on the assurance that I belong to You. Shift my gaze from the temporary triumphs of my own strength to the eternal security of Your grace. Let the rising sun that warms these plains remind me that Your power is perfect in my weakness, and that the light of Your presence is far greater than any shadow of doubt or insufficiency I might feel.

Send me out now with a quiet confidence that does not need to shout to be heard, trusting that You are at work even in the unseen places where the ground seems hard and the growth is slow. Just as the winter desert holds the secret promise of spring deep beneath the soil, help me to believe that You are bringing life and change out of the smallest acts of faithfulness. I surrender my need for spectacular signs and choose instead to walk humbly in the knowledge that my life is held securely in Your hands, ready to serve wherever You lead me today.

Amen.

May the peace of the high desert follow us all, reminding us that our true joy is found not in what we achieve, but in the assurance that our names are known and our lives are held securely by grace.
