Praying the Scriptures
Tuesday Evening Prayer
September 3, 2024
So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure, because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16–18)
Gracious and Eternal God,
As the day draws to a close and the shadows lengthen, we come before You in gratitude and reflection. We thank You for the strength You have given us today, for the small victories and quiet moments of grace. Though our bodies may feel weary, we are reminded by Your Word not to lose heart. For inwardly, You are renewing us day by day, refreshing our spirits with Your steadfast love.
Lord, help us to fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. In the midst of our troubles and trials, grant us the vision to see beyond the temporary and to embrace the eternal. Teach us to trust in Your promises, knowing that our light and momentary afflictions are preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure.
As we prepare for rest, we surrender to You all our worries and fears. Fill our hearts with the peace that surpasses all understanding, and may we find comfort in Your presence. Renew our minds, strengthen our spirits, and guide us to rest in Your loving embrace.
In the name of Jesus Christ, who is our hope and salvation, we pray.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and comfort this evening.
