Praying the Scriptures

Friday Evening Prayer

February 28, 2025

For your steadfast love is as high as the heavens; your faithfulness extends to the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens. Let your glory be over all the earth. (Psalm 57:10-11)

O Lord,

As the sun sets behind the peak of Red Mountain, and the desert sky deepens into a canvas of indigo and fire, I lift my heart in gratitude for the breadth of Your love. Your steadfast mercy stretches farther than the open horizon, and Your faithfulness is more enduring than the ancient stones beneath my feet.

The cool desert air whispers through the mesquite and sage, carrying the echoes of Your promises. In the stillness of this February evening, I rest in the certainty that Your love surrounds me, unwavering and vast. The stars, like embers scattered across the heavens, declare Your glory, shining as a testament to Your unfailing truth.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let Your glory cover this land, from the quiet arroyos to the towering cliffs, from the smallest desert flower to the eagle soaring high. In the solitude of this night, I find my refuge in You, my soul safe beneath the shadow of Your wings.

May my heart remain steadfast, singing Your praises even in the quiet hours. As I lay down to sleep, I trust in Your mercy to guard my dreams, and in the morning, I will awaken with a new song of thanksgiving upon my lips.

In Jesus’ name, I pray.

Amen.

May this prayer bring you peace and comfort this evening.
